The Digital Dan
(Audio - 7.5, Video - 9)
Taken from a Digital 8 clone of the 2 camera mixdown master, this is one
of the finest looking videos around. It is even more remarkable when you
consider that it is an audience shot show. The camera work is tight, steady,
and remarkably clear. One camera to the rear of the venue and another on
stage left providing close up shots of the band. The audio is the same as
the "Initial Reflections" release which starts off a little rough but sounds
very nice for the rest of the show. But it is the video that is the star of
the show. It is opening night for the T4E tour and there are a few goof ups
here and there by the band. This is a video that almost every Rush fan is
going to love to watch.
Production notes. The video was split at the intermission so as to provide
better quality on 2 discs. The video was compressed with 2 pass VBR
(Variable Bit Rate) for optimal quality. The audio was encoded in Dolby
Digital 2.0 at a 448k bit rate, the highest official DVD specification. As
an added bonus, hit the "AUDIO" button on your remote to change between
audio soundtracks. Soundtrack 1 is the "Initial Reflections" only audio.
Soundtrack 2 is a matrix with the audio from the mixdown master video. Each
offers a slightly different sound and can between switched between at any
time during concert playback. Thanks again to Rubicon Productions for the
audio source and to "NYBG" and "CBG" for the video source. As with all
Digital Reproductions releases, this is for free trade or blank media trade
only and not to be bought, sold or distributed for profit. Please keep the
spirit of trading alive and well. (2002-08-11) |
