This is a very good audience recording. All the instruments can be heard fine and the band puts on a great performance. The high end dominates the mix, slightly overpowering the drums and bass. This makes for an excellent recording if you want to really concentrate on Alex's playing. The audience is very into the performance and do a lot of clapping and singing. The band seems to capture this energy and puts on what I feel is one of the best shows I have heard. The performance of Cinderella Man is excellent. The band goofs around and has a lot of fun with the song. The only negatives to the show is the middle of Cygnus X-I is cut and Cinderella Man fades out a little early. As far as the clapping, the crowd does it a lot. Not applauding, but clapping along with the music. They even do it during the drum solo. I listened to my 1988 show from Glasgow and again the crowd clapped along with the songs. Is this some Scottish tradition? (1999-04-01)

The Digital Dan
Another recording from the "Drive Till You Die" tour that captures the boys in the Scotland. The sound is pretty good, a bit distant but you can still hear all the instruments clearly. The concert on a whole is very listenable, especially at high volumes. For some reason shows like this sound better loud than at low volume levels. The presence of tape hiss shows the age of the recording, but nothing that would detract from the sound quality The beauty of this show is that it includes the hard to find encore of Cinderella Man, unfortunately the tape cuts off the last 20sec of the song. The dynamic range and stereo separation overall have been increased during remastering to improve the listenability of the recording. There are a few AFtK tour recordings available, but this one of the best I've come across yet. If you're looking for a show from this tour, this is the show is a good choice, so is Sound and Fury.
