Bootleg of the Month: Inspired by TrialofTears.net, I will be starting a bootleg of the month tradition. This is going to be done in conjunction with the Dream Theater Forums and I ask that if you download the bootleg you at least check the place out to see if you like it. After my initially somewhat random choice of a bootleg for January, I will be allowing the members of the Dream Theater Forums to nominate and vote for bootlegs to be hosted the following month. Many Dream Theater fans know that every time Mike Portnoy's birthday rolls around, instead of getting presents, Mike will always give out some sort of gift to the fans via his forum. In this tradition, since my birthday is in July, I will be uploading the top two finishers for this month as well as a bonus show I picked.

The Bootleg of the Month is averaging over 100 downloads per month. I hope everyone is enjoying the shows and I encourage everyone loving the music the boys in Dream Theater have provided for us to visit the Dream Theater Forum!

Trading Status: Retired

Unfortunately it's come to the point where I've decided I'm going to take a big step back from my trading activities permanently. It's a combination of less time, lack of my earlier passion, and other musical interests that is causing this. More and more I listen less to bootlegs and more to normal material, to the point where now I hardly listen to a full show unless it is a GDT release. I have a *large* number of bootlegs sitting on my shelves and my computer that chances are I'll never listen to. And unfortunately I don't find the time to just collect anymore. Also I've noticed everything some argument over bootleg formats, tapers, or whatever comes up, I always get involved and over time the constant struggling with things has slowly taken away my passion for the music and the hobby.  I am going to stop collecting entirely, and the only shows I plan on getting are those of great importance, and I will continue to trade for those things on my want list.

However I am not going to go into the shadows completely. I realize that I have a very large collection that has music in it that a lot of people would love to hear, so I will be keeping myself open for 2:1 trades for those out there that go that route. They are easy for me, and burning discs really is no problem as I can do other things as that goes on. As Nickeh Productions heads toward its 100th release I could not imagine shutting that down. One of the greatest feelings in the world is to help improve/transfer/whatever new shows to a large audience. I'm sure I'll also continue to tape occasional shows. Also I will continue my bootleg of the month.

It's been a good run for me. I did my first B+P with DigitalDan of the DigitalRushExperience back in the spring of 2004 for two Rush shows, "Experience to Extremes Remastered", and "Mid-American Dreams PE". After a brief time in B+P's and some mail trades I found the Lossless Rush DC++ hub. That is what really opened things up for me and since that time my collection always grew at an ever larger pace. I was able to get involved with a ton of Rush and Dream Theater trading groups, and in these places I've met a lot of kind, good people that I hope not to lose touch with, even if I'm not actively trading anymore. I intend to keep DC++ running whenever I have spare bandwidth, cause there is no reason my hard drives or bandwidth should go to waste. I also plan to continue to op, and help in any way I can any hubs I am already on.
